
The back of the planner offers a couple of project-tracker pages to help brainstorm and plan longer-term projects. It has room for extracurricular activities or jobs, weekly goals, and to-do lists, as well. The weekly pages are also lined (which helps keep everything visually organized) and divided into seven class subjects a day.

The front has space for a full class schedule, and each monthly page has lined space for each day, plus study tips and boxes for monthly goals and projects. It’s 8.5 by 11 inches and less than 0.5 inch thick, so it has plenty of space for writing and doesn’t add much bulk to a backpack, but it’s still big enough that it won’t get lost or squished surrounded by textbooks, notebooks, and folders on a desk. Why it’s great: The Blue Sky Academic Student Planner is the best out of the eight academic-year planners we’ve tested because it has the most useful features for middle school, high school, and college students, the cover is sturdy, and it’s inexpensive-at this writing, it’s the second-most affordable planner we recommend. Andersen added artworks on top of the wallpaper and painted the trim in a contrasting color, doubling the impact of the dramatic wall finish. Vintage Schumacher wallpaper in the bedroom of fiber artist Trish Andersen makes the space feel like you’re inside of a gift box in the best way. The sconces are from Article, the cat pillow is from Aelfie, and the rugs are from Anthropologie.

The art hanging over the bed is by Kevin Sabo, and Michael created the pieces in the corner. “Nothing fancy, but I love the color pop, and it’s so soft!” The textile art on the bed is called Veronique by Diane Hoffman. “He has a CNC machine, so he cut out the shape, and I upholstered it with fleece from Joann’s,” she adds. “That room was originally inspired with the Goodnight Moon palette in mind.” Michael (Porten) made the headboard for the bedroom. She found the vintage Schumacher wallpaper on eBay-in the perfect amount-for cheap. “I really love the bedroom,” Trish Andersen says.
